1983

Nera Mobildata AS, a Norwegian supplier of ticketing systems for ferry companies, is awarded the first Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) contract in Sør-Trøndelag, Norway.

1999

Q-Free ASA, a developer and supplier of electronic toll collection systems, merges with NERA Mobildata AS. To meet future demand, Q-Free initiates a new project to develop a next generation ticketing solution for Scandinavia.

2005

Q-Free decides to demerge its AFC division, which became the core business of a new company. FARA is born.

2019

FARA is acquired by Ticketer to form part of The Ticketer Group. Ticketer is the UK’s most widely deployed ticketing systems supplier and is a prominent transit data provider, sharing the same value ambition as FARA of ‘Making Travel Easy’.
