Automatic Passenger Counting (APC) is a critical tool for fleet management and on board safety. Automatic Passenger Counting provides real time insights on passenger numbers per vehicle, helping operators improve operations whilst ensuring passenger and driver safety.
Passenger numbers are collected using counting sensors in each vehicle’s door. The counting sensors have two stereoscopic cameras which provide a counting balance accuracy of more than 95% (depending on the selected model of the APC sensor). APC can give live passenger counting for vehicles with sensors in up to 4 doors, and also distinguishes between children, adults, and bikes for insightful capacity management.
Drivers can monitor passenger number versus capacity. Traffic Controllers can also monitor vehicle capacity, and how many people board or alight at each stop.
FARA’s Automatic Passenger Counting system enables operators to understand passenger flow with vastly improved precision, as the data provides an overview on passenger travel behaviour per stop, allowing improvements in efficiency in fleet management.
APC is crucial now, and post Covid, ensuring that operators are notified when the maximum of passengers is exceeded. The maximum number of passengers can be defined per vehicle type and based on the operator’s safety protocols.
FARA’s APC solution allows you to easily monitor your vehicles and know exactly how they are being utilised.
APC distinguishes between children, adults, bike and strollers, for high precision capacity management.
Reporting and analysis can be filtered based on date, time, line, route, stop name and GPS position. Data can easily be exported to other applications, such as Excel or Data Warehouse.
